Financial Analyst - Stony Brook CPMP Finance 

Location: Stony Brook, NY

At the manager’s discretion, this role may be eligible for remote work; this position is only available to New York State Residents. 

Schedule: Full Time

Days/Hours: Monday - Friday; 8:30 AM - 5 PM  

Salary Range: $71,001 - $79,001 (pay will be determined based on experience, preferred qualifications, and education)

Responsibilities

SUMMARY: Under the guidance of the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Manager, the Financial Analyst is responsible for supporting the preparation of the annual budget, developing financial analytics and dashboards, streamlining and implementing process improvements for the Accounting Department, and documenting and communicating financial procedures and policies.

 

Job Duties & Essential Functions:

Budget & Financial Analysis:

  • Assist in the development and consolidation of the organization’s $700 million annual budget, inclusive of 17 clinical practices and 14 administrative departments
  • In alignment with the department goals under the direction of the Manager, communicate and collaborate with clinical department administrators, central administration and other leaders within the organization to ensure timely, cohesive preparation and submission of budgets, forecasts and YTD variance explanations
  • Review proposed departmental budget submissions for accuracy and completeness within policies
  • Assist with consolidating budget submissions and produce high level budget analytics
  • Under the guidance of the FP&A Manager, monitor and provide detailed analysis and explanation for discrepancies against budgets and forecasts with routine frequency
  • Support the development and maintenance of financial databases for actual, budget and forecast data and payroll databases for multiple pay entities for staff and physicians. Validate and maintain financial and payroll data to ensure its completeness and accuracy. Assist in the creation of additional database sources as identified
  • Create analysis and reporting of vendor data, including detailed spend analysis
  • Under the guidance of the FP&A Manager, create budget analysis and key financial metric reports and dashboards using BI software
  • Create and update operational metrics to support the finance team
  • Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures
  • Assist with maintenance of CPMP Finance internal website
  • Support financial software implementation and administration
  • All other projects as identified

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting, finance or other related field
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in a financial role
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or Masters in Accounting or Finance
  • Prior experience with financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting and dashboard develop
  • Prior experience merging multiple data sources, validating data, and drilling down
  • Experience with a business intelligence system
  • Experience with Excel Visual Basic
  • Experience with financial planning software
  • Accounting experience in an academic healthcare organization

 

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with patients, staff and medical providers. The employee must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. This position is largely sedentary and requires the employee to remain stationary for a majority of the day. Any additional physical demands will be outlined and provided by management.
