Overview

Project Manager - Stony Brook Emergency Physicians, UFPC

Location: Stony Brook, NY

Schedule: Full time 40 hour work week

Days/Hours: Monday - Friday; 8:30 AM - 5 PM 

Salary Range: $116,602 - $131,019 (pay will be determined based on experience, preferred qualifications, and education)

Responsibilities

SUMMARY: The Project Manager oversees complex projects from planning through delivery. Liaises between project members, cross-functional teams, external vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure deliverables, requirements, schedules, cost, and meeting plans are communicated. Being a Project Manager utilizes appropriate tools to plan project timelines, tasks, milestones, and deadlines. Communicates schedule and changes to all stakeholders. Additionally, the Project Manager plans and facilitates project meetings to align the team to methods and goals to track project tasks. Prepares agendas, meeting notes, and project summaries. Monitors task completion status to identify at risk project tasks and to develop mitigation plans. Allocates resources, budgets, and hours to the project and adjusts allocations when necessary.

 

Job Duties & Essential Functions:

  • Provide support in coordinating the Division's strategic initiatives, including quality improvement projects, IT projects, data analysis projects, patient experience projects, and more.
  • Manage and execute quality and informatics projects aimed at improving care delivery, patient outcomes, and regulatory compliance across Emergency Medicine.
  • Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and resource allocation strategies to ensure timely completion of deliverables within scope and budget.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and Emergency Medicine quality measures. Identify care gaps, develop mitigation strategies, and report findings to Division leadership.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure timely completion of the Division's projects. Assist with the implementation of evidence-based practices and tools.
  • Facilitate multidisciplinary workgroups and QI collaboratives to drive best practices, develop standardized workflows, and share outcomes across Emergency Medicine.
  • Conduct medical record reviews to verify compliance with quality measures and identify opportunities to improve provider documentation and coding accuracy.
  • Partner with informatics and IT teams to optimize electronic medical record (EMR) templates, flowsheets, and documentation processes that support accurate reporting of quality measures.
  • Collaborate with coding, compliance, and clinical teams to ensure accurate documentation and coding.
  • Develop training materials and deliver education sessions to physicians, nurses, and practice managers on documentation standards, quality metrics, and data interpretation.
  • Analyze clinical data to detect trends and identify opportunities aimed at enhancing the quality and safety of patient care.
  • Identify case review triggers, practice-related issues, and emerging trends
  • Extract data and prepare graphs & other visual representations
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, analytics or related field. In lieu of Bachelor’s degree, will have 4 years of additional relevant experience
  • Four (4) years of relevant experience.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and strong background in Excel.
  • Experience in data analytics.

Preferred Education and Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree
  • A Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Prior Healthcare experience
  • Seven (7) or more years of relevant experience in quality measures, quality improvement and

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with patients, staff and medical providers. The employee must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. This position is largely sedentary and requires the employee to remain stationary for a majority of the day. Any additional physical demands will be outlined and provided by management.
